This book is an academic monograph on single-point acupuncture and moxibustion(SAM), narrating the principles of SAM and how to use it in clinical practice.
There is a popular saying to appraise the quality of acupuncture "one gold, two silver and three bronze" (the true meaning is: the fewer points used, the better the quality of the acupuncture.)This means the successful acupuncture treatment should be simple to perform while great in therapeutic effect. The authors regarded this viewpoint as the starting point to write this book.
SAM requires the acupuncturist to be able to work out an accurate diagnosis and syndrome-differentiation. In SAM, the acupuncturist should proficiently master the systematic knowledge of acupuncture and moxibustion including the basic theory, the therapeutic principle, the prescription of points and the manipulation techniques. In addition, the acupuncturist should be familiar with some unique methods of acupuncture and moxibustion such as Midnight-noon Ebb-flow and Eight Methods of Magic Turtle, for they are all useful to deal with some difficult diseases in SAM's clinical practice. Furthermore, skill at using them in clinical practice with great aptitude is necessary.
